HAIKOU, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- Jacopo Mosca from Wilier Triestina cycling team won the 2017 Tour of Hainan on Sunday and the last stage victory went to Joseph Cooper from Team Isowhey Sports Swisswellness.
After nine days of racing, Mosca beat Benjami Prades from Team Ukyo, who placed second overall, by three seconds in the general individual classification, and Latvian rider Emils Liepins from Team Delko Marseille KTM ranked third among all riders.
In the general team classification, Team Delko Marseille KTM beat Swiss cycling team by 31 seconds and won the overall title, Chinese cycling team Henxiang was awarded as the best Asian cycling team.
Joseph Cooper got the first place of the final stage. Jakub Mareczko of Wilier Triestina cycling team, who keeps the green jersey, encountered mechanical problems during today's race, he didn't participate in the final sprint, but was able to keep his jersey after the last stage.
Liu Jianpeng from Hengxiang cycling team keeps the blue jersey as the best Asian rider, and Sam Crome from Team Isowhey Sports Swisswellness keeps the polka-dot jersey as the best climber.
"I'm so happy winning this year's Tour of Hainan, I want to thank all my teammates, especially Mareczko, they helped me a lot. This was an excellent tournament, I hope that I could come back here next year." said Mosca after the race.
This year's Tour of Hainan, kicking off on Oct. 28, covered a total distance of 1,571.2 kilometers, with a total prize of 350,000 dollars.
