To celebrate the annual ˇ°Dragon Head Raisingˇ±, a traditional holiday held on the second day of the second lunar month, a colorful Sea Blessing Ceremony will be held at Haikou's Holiday Beach on March 10th.
Dragons are special creatures in Chinese legends, and have the power to control the wind and rain, making them important for fishermen, who make sacrifices on this day to pray for protection over the coming year.
Haikou's Sea Blessing Ceremony will begin at 9:30 AM at the West Beach sea viewing platform. From there, a parade will travel to Holiday Beach, where the main Sea Blessing will be held at 9:50 AM.
Following the Sea Blessing Ceremony, a beach treasure hunt will be held with prizes including mousepads, coconut carvings, BBQ tickets, and more.
