Hainan Island is now focusing on developing into a special tourism zone by unveiling an ¡®8-Paradises¡¯ blueprint---a leisure paradise, a living paradise, a shopping paradise, a food paradise, a medical paradise, a healthcare paradise, an entertainment paradise and a distinctive culture paradise.
Hainan is uniquely suited to achieve this goal, with top-class services, an excellent eco-environment, Asia¡¯s largest duty-free center, distinctive ethnic culture and so much more.
"This strategy on tourism marks a new era. As Hainan's top pillar industry, tourism will further boost the development of the whole service sector", said Lu Zhiyuan, the Director of Hainan Tourism Development Commission.
Hainan Island in South China is looking to play a major role in the Silk Road Economic Belt and 21st Century Maritime Silk Road initiatives. The provincial authorities are eying opportunities to build a major sea transportation and tourism hub in the region.
Meanwhile, Hainan has signed an agreement with Hong Kong, Taiwan and the Philippines to work closely together to encourage cruise lines and neighboring ports to join and leverage the Asia Cruise Fund to expand their business.
This year, Hainan will introduce some specific plans to promote the upgrading and transition of its service industry by cultivating the medical and healthcare, cultural creativity and office building economy industries as its new driving forces in the sector.
